MINOLTA DIMAGE SCAN ELITE 5400 REVIEW

Here I am trying to give the reader a good idea of the DIFFERENCES between 2700 DPI and 5400 DPI

Click HERE to see my new set of tests.

This is the slide that I used for Resolution tests (Fujifilm Velvia 50, 200mm at f:11)

2700 DPI (49 MB) Auto Focus Unsharp Mask used and Contrast +10

Manual Focusing (see image below) slightly improves the overall sharpness of the image.

5400 DPI (198 MB) Manual Focus but I did not apply the Unsharp Mask nor did I alter the Contrast.

Even at 5400 DPI, applying the Unsharp Mask (see image below) greatly improves the sharpness.

TIFF Format (842 K)

I reduced this image to 445 x 318 so that it matches the size of the 2700 DPI image on the left. But in order to compare apple with apple, you should reality compare the TIFF format versions of both images instead of the JPEG (lossy compression) versions shown here. Once you have visually reduced (not by reducing the file pixel count as I did with the JPEG version above) the size of the 5400 DPI file to the same visual size as the one from the 2700 DPI scan, then can you truly see the difference between a 2700 DPI scan and a 5400 DPI scan

TIFF Format (3.4 MB)

Here I am trying to give the reader a good idea of the effectiveness of ICE
